Safe Place (or Sanctuary) Imagery helps clients create an inner refuge they can return to any time they feel overwhelmed, threatened, or in need of comfort. It’s a personal, symbolic space that evokes feelings of safety, peace, and restoration.

This technique is especially valuable for trauma survivors, highly sensitive clients, or anyone working with deep emotional content. It can be used before, during, or after emotional processing to stabilize and regulate the nervous system.

The sanctuary becomes an inner resource—a touchstone of calm that belongs solely to the client.
